Hypnotherapy is becoming increasingly popular as a treatment because as it can be used safely at all stages of life and there are no negative side effects.
How does it work?
Our minds are incredibly powerful and the link between our thoughts and our physical body is undeniable. Our conscious mind can only focus on a few things at any given moment in time, however our subconscious is constantly processing the world around us and storing this information.
Hypnotherapy works with your subconscious mind to help overcome unwanted habits, behaviours, emotional and physical responses that have been stored throughout your life.
What does it feel like?
If you’ve ever found yourself drifting off mid-conversation or getting lost in a movie or a good book then you have experienced an altered state of mind, similar to hypnosis. It is a comfortable state, similar to daydreaming where you remain aware of what is going on around you yet you are completely at ease, undisturbed by background noise.
Contrary to popular myth, a hypnotherapist cannot make you do anything that you don’t want to do and will not ‘put you under’. You are able to stop the session at any time should you wish to.
Hypnosis is achieved through a deep state of relaxation, something that you can then practice at home enabling you to be relaxed and stress free.
